Il mio nome è Valeria Maraviglia, sono un ingegnere e da ormai qualche anno vivo e lavoro stabilmente a Milano.   

My name is Valeria Maraviglia, I’m an engineer based in Milan where I have been working for a multinational company for several years.

 

Sono nata e cresciuta in Sardegna fino all'età di 12 anni quando con tutta la famiglia mi sono trasferita in Toscana, a Lucca.

All'epoca non potevo immaginare che sarebbe stato solo l'inizio di una vita nomade tra Italia ed estero.

La profonda passione per i viaggi ed un lavoro internazionale mi avrebbero presto permesso di conoscere posti meravigliosi, persone e culture diverse.

I was born and raised in a small island called Sardinia till I moved to Lucca with my family when I was 12. At that time I couldn’t imagine that would be the start of a nomad life moving around Italy and abroad. My passion for travelling and my work commitments got me to know beautiful destinations and mixed cultures.

 

Si dice che la casa sia lo specchio di noi stessi. Per me non ha mai rappresentato un luogo unico ma piuttosto una sensazione, un modo di vivere.

It is said that our home mirrors ourselves. To me Home is not a place but a way of life.

 

Pochi anni fa quando vivevo a Singapore ho iniziato a pensare che sarebbe stato bello creare il mio posto nel mondo, un luogo in cui potermi rifugiare: l'espressione del senso di ospitalità e di accoglienza che avevo avuto il piacere di vivere negli anni.

A few years ago while living in Singapore I thought it would be nice to build my own place in the world, to have a shelter to return to that could show the hospitality and welcoming attitude I experienced through my travels

 

Mi hanno spesso detto che il mio cognome si sarebbe prestato a qualcosa di bello e da ricordare. Ne ho aprofittato per unire le due cose. Da questa associazione è nata l'idea del nome "Casa Maraviglia".

I have been told that my surname recalls something nice and important to remember. Therefore I called my home “casa Maraviglia”. 

I hope you will appreciate the attention for details I put on setting up the house.

 

Spero possiate anche voi respirare le sensazioni di calore, armonia e cura poste nell’allestimento della casa. Dal design, dove molta importanza è stata data alla luce, ai concetti di made in Italy e artigianalità, ad aspetti legati al risparmio energetico-idrico, al concetto di toscanità con uso di materiali semplici come legno, ferro, cuoio, fino all’uso di accessori utili a rendere il soggiorno una esperienza italiana a 360° gradi.

 

“Made in Italy” design, craftmanship and the attention for the lighting are some of the key concepts Casa Maraviglia has been built upon. Recyclable materials, energy saving appliances, the use of simple materials such as iron, leather, wood to recall Tuscany furniture design and the attention for details and accessories have been used to create a real Italian look and feel and surround you with a very special and welcoming atmosphere.

 

Un grazie immenso ai miei genitori per il supporto ricevuto durante tutto il periodo dei lavori, conclusi ufficialmente a Luglio 2018. Un periodo lungo, faticoso, durato 2 anni, fatto di sacrifici, tensioni ma anche di una grande soddisfazione finale.

Pasticceri, gelatai e ristoratori da una vita, è possibile che i miei genitori, persone molto discrete ma con un grande senso di ospitalità, si “affaccino” al vostro cancello per offrirvi un gelato artigianale o qualche manicaretto come gesto di benvenuto.

 

A great thank you to my Mum and Dad for all the support they gave me from the very beginning of the house building till the works finished in July 2018. It’s been 2 years of long and hard work but eventually it got all paid back.

Bakers, ice-cream makers and hosts for their whole life, my parents are pure example of hospitality and discretion at the same time. You may end up with an ice-cream during  your stay as a welcome gift for you!

 

Ai miei futuri ospiti. Spero che avrete per la casa la stessa cura e lo stesso amore che ho avuto io nel realizzare il progetto. Vorrei rendere questa esperienza unica per voi e per tutti gli ospiti che verranno.

Vi auguro un soggiorno da ricordare a Casa Maraviglia, il luogo dove design italiano e tradizioni toscane si incontrano.
